MAX Light Rail FACTS
Located only one block from the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower, the MAX Lightrail System provides you with easy and affordable access to the Portland International Airport, Expo Center, Convention Center, shopping, dining and sporting events.
2. MAX Light Rail uses only electricity, and even supplies some of its own power through braking (like hybrid cars). With MAX factored in, TriMet is more than 10 times as fuel-efficient per passenger as the average car. Experience a big part of why Portland is consider one of the country's most sustainable cities.
3. You can catch MAX at 64 stations throughout the metro area. Trains run on three lines every 5-15 minutes every day roughly between 4:30 a.m. and midnight:
Blue Line (Hillsboro - City Center - Gresham)
Red Line (Airport - City Center - Beaverton TC)
Yellow Line (Expo Center - City Center)
4. You must have a validated ticket, bus transfer receipt or monthly pass before boarding MAX, unless you are riding only in Fareless Square. Ticket machines are located at each station.
5. Signs at the station indicate where to wait and when the next train is due. Signs on the front of each train identify the line (Blue, Red or Yellow) and destination.
6. As MAX approaches, stay behind the white bumpy tiles and wait for the train to come to a complete stop. The doors will open automatically and you can board the train.
7. MAX stops at every station. The station name is announced before each stop and appears on a reader board overhead.
8. Gather all your personal items and exit the train. Be sure to look both ways before crossing the MAX tracks.
