4th Annual Conference of |
"Evolution of the Ombudsman [1809-2009]: A Rich History, A Promising Future"
Please come join us for a meeting of the minds of three organizations to highlight the 200th anniversary of the creation of the role of the modern ombudsman in Sweden in 1809. Be part of a celebration of the past and present, and help shape an exciting future by participating in a stimulating joint conference in picturesque downtown Montreal next April.
- Plenary, general, and panel sessions will be offered that appeal to attendees from ACCUO, FCO, and IOA.
- Care will be taken to ensure that during concurrent sessions, value will be provided for legislative/parliamentary/governmental ombudsman; corporate ombudsman; and academic ombudsman. One of this conference’s guiding principles is that all participants will be free to attend all sessions regardless of the organizing association.
- "Cross-talk" will be encouraged, and efforts will be made to offer sessions that appeal to attendees from ACCUO, FCO, and IOA.
- Best practices of ombudsman will be shared.
- Current ombudsman issues of interest and controversy will be discussed at this conference.
Simultaneous translation:
Complimentary simultaneous translation from English to French will be provided every morning for the General Sessions only. These include the Keynote Speakers and the Plenary Presentations which will take place mainly in English. Participants who wish to do so are encouraged to ask questions and make comments in French. Although most morning presenters can answer in French, a bilingual member, at the head table will facilitate such exchanges.
Any attendee who wishes to utilize a translation headset during the General Sessions will need to note this on their conference registration form so we can order the appropriate number of headsets. You will need to complete a separate headset registration form on site.
Please note that concurrent sessions will be presented in English or in French. Language used will be indicated on the program and no translation will be available.
